Jogging activities

Girls on the Run

Hoover Elementary School, Salem, OR

 

Girls on the Run is a 16-week program for girls in grades 3-5.  Students who sign-up learn about leadership, collaboration, and character development as well as become a runner.  At the end of the 16-week program, they run a 5K race with an adult running buddy.  The Foundation has provided funds for supplies, running shorts, socks and shoes.

Mock Interviews

Canby, OR. 

Each trimester the Future Focus class hosts mock interviews where students have a short job interview. 

The Foundation members have volunteered in their capacity as professionals to participate as interviewers in the Canby mock interviews and to provide job shadow opportunities in the areas of business including but not limited to sales and executive positions.

Guppy Tank

Canby, OR

A miniature “shark tank” experience for teams of students.  After developing a business plan students receive seed money from the foundation to make and sell their product or service.  Following the sales period, students present their project and the results to Foundation Board Members and are graded on their presentation and understanding of business concepts.

Lemonade

Lemonade Day

McMinnville, OR. 

Youth across the community create a lemonade stand and sell their products.  The Foundation is a financial sponsor and has had board members help evaluate the stands.

Future Business Leaders of America

Canby, OR

 

FBLA is a nonprofit educational association for middle school, high school, and collegiate students who are interested in learning more about the free enterprise system.​

The Foundation has provided financial support for the Canby High School FBLA advisors to attend the State Conference with their student teams, and its members have judged at the State competition.

Youth Conference

Financial Beginnings Youth Ambassadors

Portland/Polk County, OR 

Financial Beginnings teaches individuals how to play an active role in their financial well-being. 

The Foundation has provided funds for Financial Beginnings to offer scholarships for teachers to attend their annual conference and for community ambassadors to implement the FB programs.​

Birthday Celebration

Family and Community Outreach – Polk County

Polk County, OR

The Family and Community Outreach department provides a myriad of resource and outreach activities across Polk County.  The Foundation provides funding to support several youth leadership and engagement activities including a spring conference for Polk County high school juniors.  This conference, held at Western Oregon University, allows students to learn from business and industry leaders.
